A few tips to help you be photo ready on your wedding day.
Lucky for us, living in San Diego provides a pretty stress free wedding day as far as weather goes. There aren’t too many days that it rains or the wind is out of control. All you really need to worry about is yourself, and how to prevent a giant zit from forming on the tip of your nose. I have just a few tips to help you make sure you are photo ready on your big day! And although yes, there is photoshop to help in case of wedding day emergencies, the less your photographer needs to touch up the better. Not only for them, but for you too! Who wants to be uncomfortable taking pictures on their wedding day?! I recommend that you do a few extra special primping steps that are a bit out of the ordinary, but really show up well in photos as well as put some extra pep in your step. After all, this is going to be one of the biggest days in your life.
About two weeks prior to your wedding day, get a haircut. This goes for both of you. This gives enough time for your haircut to still look fresh, but in case something doesn’t go exactly right, it has a little time to grow and be corrected. And for us ladies, having no split ends and a fresh cut will make sure your locks look amazing!
Go tanning. Whether you lay outside a few times, or hit the tanning salon try to grab a few rays to give your skin a nice glow, and to prevent the dreaded lobster look on your day in case you get too much sun too fast. And unless you are already experienced with spray tanning, you may not want to try it for the first time right before your wedding.
Get your teeth whitened. Go visit your dentist or just buy some white strips. As a bride you will be surprised how much non white shows up against a white dress. You will take more photographs on your wedding day than you have ever taken in one day ( heck, maybe even in a year!)
Get a facial. This will not only help you relax, but it will help protect you against that giant pimple from showing up on the tip of your nose. But again- don’t panic! if this does happen to you, there is always photoshop to remove proof of it ever happening! ( and champagne to help you deal! )
Get a manicure. This one goes for both of you again! Personally, I even asked my husband to get a pedicure. We left the day after our wedding on our honeymoon to the Bahamas and we both wanted him to be comfortable hanging out barefoot on those epic sandy beaches for a week. All eyes will be on you, and your wedding day is celebrated by putting your first piece of permanent jewelry on your hands. Everyone will want to see your rings and your hands will have their very first photoshoot!
Pay the extra money and get a wedding day hair and makeup trial. It really is a smart investment to your overall bridal look. You may think you know what you want on your day, but what if it doesn’t look quite how you thought? Or that elaborate updo just doesn’t work with your hair? Plus this will give your makeup artist and or hair stylist a chance to work with your skin and hair and make the necessary adjustments or mental notes to make sure you look your very best as a bride!
Get some sleep! I know this last one may seem silly, but if you leave too much to do right up until your wedding day- or you plan your bachelor / bachelorette party too close to your actual wedding day, you might wear the effects of that on your face for the world to see. And yes, once again, there is photoshop…. but even then, only so much can be done.
